Press Release : Indonesian-Dutch Youth Dialogue for a Sustainable Future II

On 30th of April 2018, IAAS Indonesia got invitation to attend Indonesian-Dutch Youth Dialogue for a Sustainable Future II. This event built on a previous youth dialogue held on 7 June 2017 in The Hague, The Netherlands, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It continued with identifying and exploring bilateral partnership in connection to youth development and youth engagement in achieving the SDGs.

The present youth dialogue focuses on the same theme as the previous dialogue, which is: “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world”. The event started with opening remarksby Head Research Center for Climate Change – University of Indonesia/Chair Sustainable Development Solutions Network Indonesia and Co-host Youth Dialogue. The next agenda was keynotes from Executive Office of the President of Indonesia and Representative of Dutch Government. The following agenda was panel discussion. The panel discussion talked about youth representation on Sustainable Development Goals.

There were a fabulous speakers, such as BAPPENAS, INFID, SDSN Indonesia, IFAD, UNESCO, UNFP, and many more. After that, we did group discussion about roles youth representation in Indonesia to achieving SDGs. The forum divided into 4 groups. IAAS Indonesia joined group 2 that talked about SDG 2: Zero Hunger. We talked about IAAS Indonesia as youth organization in agriculture and related sciences field and our role to achieve zero hunger. We also learned about others organization role to achieve SDG 2 and make conclusion how to synchronize our program. Wish all the agenda brings Indonesian youth organization to the next level!

International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) is the World Biggest Student Association in The Field of Agriculture and Related Sciences. IAAS was founded in 1957 and started with only 8 member countries.For the last 60 years, IAAS has grown into a big organization with 53 member countries and more than 10,000 active members. IAAS Indonesia was found by Mr. Arif Satria on December 29th 1992. By the year of 2020, IAAS Indonesia has 11 Local Committees across the country with more than 1200 active members.
